Fun floral cake for any garden themed birthday party

Ingredients
Cake
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 1½ cups unsalted butter melted
  • 2¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup Greek Yogurt
  • 2¼ cup milk
  • 3 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • Red and Pink Icing Colour Dye (Wilton's)
Buttercream
  • 2 cup butter room temperature
  • 7 cup icing cugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp milk
  • Red and Pink Icing Colour Dye (Wilton's)
Instructions
Cake
  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
  2. Coat three 9-inch round pans generously with butter then dust with flour making sure it attaches on every surface of the pan, dump excess out.
  3. In a medium bowl mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside for later.
  4. In a large microwave-safe bowl melt butter.
  5. Whisk in the sugars to the butter making sure to get out any lumps.
  6. Whisk in eggs, yogurt, milk, and vanilla extract until combined. Slowly sift in dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until there are no lumps remaining.
  7. Evenly distribute cake batter into three separate bowls, this will be for colouring the layers. In one bowl dye cake batter red, another dye pink, the last one leave as is.
  8. Pour each one into their own prepared cake pans. Bake for 25 minutes and check. Should be done once you stick a toothpick in and it comes out clean. If needs longer bake for another 5-10 minutes.
  9. Set aside to cool for 20 - 30 minutes, then take out of pans carefully onto a wire rack to continue to cool.
  10. At this point you can freeze the cakes in saran wrap, tin foil then into a plastic bag. If want to ice right away, be sure to cool for at least 1 - 2 hours before icing.
Buttercream
  1. In a large stand mixer, add butter, 2 cups of icing sugar, 1 tsp of vanilla and 1 tsp milk.
  2. Once the icing is slowly mixed into butter, add another 3 cups of icing sugar, 1 tsp of vanilla and 1 tsp of milk.
  3. Then add in remaining 2 cups of icing sugar.
  4. Beat on high for 15 minutes or until light and fluffy.
  5. Ice ⅔ cup of icing in between layers when stacking. Then lightly cover the whole cake in a thin layer of buttercream. Separate remaining buttercream into 3 equal parts and dye the exact same colours as your layers. Use Wilton's tip 1B to pipe the floral design around the cake. Start the darkest colour on the bottom, medium pink in the middle and light pink on the crown of the top leaving the very top for a cream colour.
